Our History
Somali Private Employment Service Agency (SPESA) was founded in Mogadishu to address a critical need: transforming Somalia’s recruitment and workforce management industry from informal, fragmented practices into a structured, ethical, and compliance-led ecosystem.
From the beginning, SPESA positioned itself as a pioneer in aligning with the 2025 Private Employment Agencies Regulations (PrEAs) and Somali Labor Law. These reforms marked a turning point in the country’s labor market, requiring agencies to operate transparently, protect workers’ rights, and ensure fair employment practices. SPESA embraced this transformation early, becoming one of the first agencies to fully integrate compliance into its operations.
Over the years, SPESA has expanded its service portfolio from basic recruitment to a comprehensive workforce management model.
Today, SPESA stands as a trusted partner for both domestic and international employers, recognized for its compliance leadership, inclusive workforce development, and technology-driven recruitment systems. Looking forward, SPESA aims to expand regionally across East Africa by 2030, building partnerships in Kenya, Ethiopia, and Djibouti, while continuing to empower Somali talent and strengthen national employment.
